Arts company B arts worked with Newcastle-under-Lyme BID, Amity Hub and local families to light up Newcastle Town Centre on Saturday 3rd December.
Newcastle Lantern Parade saw over 100 people processing through the town carrying their hand-made lanterns, accompanied by a live band. The procession also featured special sculptural illuminated works all following this year’s theme, “Seas of Change”.
Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, Newcastle Lantern Parade supports the development of creative and event skills for young people at Amity Hub and provides opportunity for them to interact with the public and be a valued part of the local community to which they have recently arrived.
The Town Crier declared a welcome to the changing of the seasons and to ‘those who have travelled to us’, a beautiful message for a beautiful event.
